Holidays description

Day 1.

Meeting at the airport. Arrival at the hotel. 

• Family hotel and restaurant on the seashore in Diakopto town. The beach is rocky. Driving distance – 191km. 
• Villas and apartments in Selianitika village close to the sea. The beach is rocky. Driving distance – 211km. 
• Chain hotel in Patras on the seashore. The beach – small pebbles. Driving distance – 236km. 

Day 2.

Afternoon tour – the medieval gem – Nafpaktos 

Duration ~ 5 hours. Whole tour driving distance: Diakopto – 130km, Selianitika- 80 km, Patras – 35km 

We take a ferry across the Rio-Antirrio to mainland Greece. We see the largest suspension bridge in Europe above us. The Capes of Rio and Antirrio are protected by the castles. You will find out what function these castles performed in the Middle Ages. Medieval Nafpaktos is just 10 minutes away. A gem in the Gulf of Corinth and a participant in naval battles. It is an enhanced medieval port that attracts many holidaymakers due to its exceptional architecture. By the way, the Italians call this town – Lepanto. Surely Italian aesthetics were left here by the Venetians. City beaches, upper fortress, the monument of Miguel de Cervantes right at the city gate! You will have free time in the city for a cup of coffee, dinner or shopping. We will return to the Peloponnese by crossing an engineering masterpiece – the suspension bridge of Rio Antirrio.

Day 4.

Authentic Greece tour 

Duration ~ 7 hours. Whole tour driving distance: Diakopto – 156km, Selianitika- 140 km, Patras – 180km. Most of the driving road is through mountain serpentines. 

Greek culture and a great number of myths are hiding in the mountains of the Peloponnese. We start our tour in Aigialeia vineyards that can easily be compared with Italian Toscana. We should hurry up to be early enough until the sun is not too high. We have a tour in the vineyards with an altitude of 400 m., hear a story of the winery in the incredible nature. Finally, we taste 4 different wines with local cheeses in the cottage house of vineyards. A good boost in the morning, isn’t it?

We continue to the Vouraikos gorge to reach Aroania Mountains. You admire the views of the sea and the mountain serpentines.

We enter the oldest Greek monastery and one of the oldest in the world – Mega Spileo. It is hidden in a mountain cave, protecting a special icon. The monastery is located at an altitude of 950 meters above sea level.

We head into the valley, where we reach the historic town of Kalavrita at an altitude of 750 m. You walk, drink a cup of coffee of buy souvenirs during your free time in the town. You begin to enjoy the freshness of the mountains and the altitude.

We reach a village of 28 people in the mountains, named after the mountain springs. We are met by Nikos and his family, who introduces us to the history and routine of the village. In the village “kafenio-tavern” we are shown the secrets of traditional Greek cuisine.

A late lunch table is placed under the marvellous tree in the centre of the village, where we enjoy traditional Greek dishes. Greek environment, wine, we feel a bit like real mountain Greeks.

Menu: Greek salad, Feta cheese, 3 appetizers “orectica”, grilled meat, local wine.

Afterwards, we visit the ethnographic museum of the village (no admission fee). We return to the sea while enjoying the beautiful landscape of mountains.

Tour. Romantic Nafplio

Duration ~ 7 hours. Whole tour driving distance: Diakopto – 284 km, Selianitika- 331 km, Patras – 387km. 

Stop at the Corinth Isthmus. At the end of the 19th century, at the narrowest point of the Peloponnese near mainland Greece, the Corinth isthmus was cut. It has a 6.4 km length and connects the Ionian and Aegean Seas, effectively turning the Peloponnese into an island.

Nafplio is one of the most beautiful and romantic cities in Greece, protected by as many as three fortresses, located on the shores of the Gulf of Argolis. Narrow streets, elegant Venetian houses, neoclassical architecture and an aura of elegance prevail in this city. The history of this city is intertwined with Greek mythology. Nafplio is associated with many famous figures from Odysseus, the Trojan War and other legends and myths.

We arrive in the city of Nafplio. Stop at Palamidi Fortress with unforgettable views of the downtown and the sea. Those who like to walk and climb can go down the stairs to the old town. Photographs taken on those stairs are spectacular. Admission fee of 8 Euros to the Palamidi Museum for adults aged 25-65 should be paid at the entrance.

We walk through the beautiful old town of Nafplio up to the port. Zografakis Travel arranges you the gift – a boat sailing around Bourtzi fortress. We will see the third fortress on the island and the old town of Nafplio from the sea. Of course, you will have free time in this beautiful city where every corner invites you for a cup of coffee, lunch or shopping. Going back to the hotels.

Day 8.

Short tour in Athens. Duration around 3 hours.

Panathinaikos Stadium. Syntagma Square and the changing parliamentary guard. The most beautiful view of the Acropolis from the hill. Old Plaka and Monastiraki.

The Airport. Goodbye!
